Our Philanthropic Mission: "Building Strong Girls" 

 

 

Gamma Phi Beta believes girls need to be mentally, physically, and socially strong to reach their goals. Through financial and hands-on support, the Delta chapter supports our philanthropic mission of "Building Strong Girls" throughout the year.

 

During the spring semester, Gamma Phi Beta hosts our Crescent Classic event, Skating for Strong Girls, to support our two international philanthropies, Girls on the Run and Camp Fire. These organizations are supported by every Gamma Phi Beta chapter across the country. 

 

In addition to these wonderful organizations, the Delta Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta supports Susan G. Komen and breast cancer research. During the fall semester, Gamma Phi Beta partners with Kappa Sigma Fraternity to host Breast Cancer Awareness Week, five days of information sessions, events, and giveaways to raise awareness. The week ends with Kick For a Cure, a kickball tournement where co-ed teams from throughout the university to compete under the lights on Nickerson Field.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Camp Fire:

 

Founded in 1910 and headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Camp Fire provides all-inclusive, coeducational programs in hundreds of communities across the United States. Camp Fire is one of the nation's largest non-profit organizations, serving over 650,000 participants annually throughout the United States. Last year, the Delta chapter raised $1,500 for Camp Fire USA to help send young girls to summer camp. 

 

 

Girls on the Run:

 

Girls on the Run was started by Molly Barker in 1993. It is a volunteer-led after school program that weaves training for a 5k run with fun, experience-based lessons that improve self-awareness, build a collection of positive experiences and insprire life-changing confidence through accomplishment. This organization's programming inspires self respect and healthy lifestyles in girls, and their core curriculum adresses many aspects of girl's development. In May 2013, Delta sisters volunteered at the Boston chapter's 5k and one of our sisters is even a coach for the organization!
